Nana written in a flowing cursive script with a small heart as an accent. Tall and narrow, the 6 sizes go from 0.94 inches wide by 2.01 tall on the tiny size growing to 3.24 wide by 7.01 tall on the full size. The stitch range sits between 1234 and 4646 so its a lightweight file even in the bigger sizes. Density 205 means the satin strokes on the letters are fine and clean rather than chunky, which keeps the cursive character readable without flooding a soft cotton knit with stitches.

Mapped in Wilcom with a running underlay that holds the thin script strokes flat on fabric without pulling. Hoop a lightweight tearaway stabiliser for woven cotton, linen, or denim. For stretch like a jersey tee or a ribbed cuff, go with a soft cutaway instead. The 3.24-inch size fits nicely on a shirt chest or a kitchen towel panel. Ive stitched this one a few times myself and the 2-inch version on a small linen pouch is probably my favourite placement, it sits there quietly and reads as genuinely handmade, not like a printed transfer. A customer last Grandparents Day ordered 3 versions in different sizes and stitched them across a set of matching towels for her daughter-in-law, nana, gram, and granny, all in matching thread colour.

Pick 40wt polyester or rayon for the sharpest cursive edges. Dont use anything heavier or the thin letter joins start to blob together at the smaller sizes. Run a test stitch first if youre going under 1 inch wide, a well-tensioned machine matters alot at that scale.

Works all year, not just Grandparents Day. Its a permanent part of grandkid birthday gifts, Christmas wrapping surprises, and those kitchen towel sets that grandmothers actually keep rather than regift.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Kitchen towel or tea towel setStitch the 3-inch version on a flour-sack kitchen towel in dusty rose thread as part of a set of personalised grandmother towels.
  • Shirt pocket or sleeve cuff detailThe 1-inch size sits on a shirt pocket or sleeve cuff for a subtle personal detail that doesnt announce itself.
  • Grandparents Day framed hoop giftMount the finished piece in a natural wood hoop for a gift that arrives ready to hang for Grandparents Day.
  • Linen pouch or lavender sachetThe 2-inch size on a small linen lavender sachet makes a sweet personalised gift for a grandmother.
  • Apron bib personalisationStitch the 3.24-inch large version centred on an apron bib for a kitchen gift thats both useful and personal.
  • Baby gift for a new grandmotherGive as a birth announcement gift stitched on a small pouch or drawstring bag when a new nana is introduced.
  • Hat or beanie cuff label areaUse the 0.94-inch smallest size on a knit beanie cuff in a contrasting thread as a label-style detail.

Behind every stitch

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
