The stethoscope tubing curves all the way round and the chest piece end loops into a heart shape at the bottom. Its a ya classic nursing symbol, the two things every nurse is known for, the tool and the care, combined in one clean icon. Single colour, no background fill, just the outline and satin columns of the instrument shape with the heart at its base. At the 7-inch size its got real presence on a tote or scrub top, and the smaller sizes work nicely on badge reels or small zipper pouches.
Density is 249 and stitch count runs from 2,581 at the 2-inch up to 11,424 at the 7-inch size. The tubing on the stethoscope uses narrow satin columns and the heart uses a wider column, so you get good contrast between the instrument and the symbol. Use no-show mesh on any woven or knit base, the satin columns need firm backing to stop them from curling at the edges. Topping helps on any textured ground like terry or fleece. Wilcom built the underlay into the path, so dont add extra underlay on your machine or those columns will thicken up and look off.
This is one of those designs that gets ordered in a bunch each time nurses week comes round in May. A customer last year bought six at a time, small sizes on badge reels for her entire ward, said her colleagues were suprised she made them herself. I hear that alot with this one. Healthcare people love something that shows the profession without being boring about it.
Stitch it on navy or ceil blue scrub fabric if you can, the single-colour design really pops on those healthcare blues. Red thread on white is also a classic combination for nurse gifts. Use a stabiliser that can handle the repeated washing scrubs go through, wash-away is fine as a topping but dont use it as your main stabiliser. Drop me a note if the fill is pulling on your ground fabric and I can suggest a lighter thread weight for that particular size.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
