Pulled this ocean splash dolphin design together to get that bold sticker quality where the thick black outline does most of the heavy lifting and the 6 fill colours inside layer up cleanly. The dolphin is mid-leap to the right -- dorsal side in a deep royal blue, a lighter cyan stripe along the mid-body, sandy beige belly, dark navy for the fins, and a few white spray dots across the back to hint at sea water. Pop it on darker fabrics and itll hold up through washing better than fine-detail shaded designs -- that thick outline isnt decorative, its structural.
One customer ordered the 5-inch run last winter and came back for the bigger size on a beach towel. A customer last week told me shed stitched the 6 inch version onto a denim jacket pocket and people kept stopping to ask where shed bought the patch. Thats exactly the look I was going for. Six colours means 6 colour changes in the hoop -- its not as fiddly as it sounds, follow the PDF colour sequence and youre sorted. Stitch it at 3 inches for a quick 1,166-stitch version or go up to 6 inches for a full 21,224-stitch statement piece.
Zip hits your inbox right after payment. Use cutaway stabilizer on denim, medium tearaway on cotton, and the lines stay sharp. Dont try it on satin -- the outline slides on that fabric and youll lose the clean edges.
