This owl is basically all eyes. The cartoon body is stocky and round with a chocolate brown fill, but the face is dominated by two huge amber circles that take up about half the whole design. Inside each eye youve got a cream highlight circle and a dark pupil, and the way the satin stitching wraps around those curves is what makes this one interesting to run. The chest patch is a separate cream area with a slight texture stitch so it doesnt read as a flat blob.

I tested it on navy blue cotton jersey last spring and the six colours sit really nicely against the dark ground. Chocolate on navy reads almost black from a distance but then up close you catch the warmth in it. One customer who does personalised kids clothing told me she ordered it three times in one week for birthday sets. Use a stabiliser that grips stretch, either cutaway or a fusible topping, because jersey will warp on those dense eye circles if you just go with tearaway. The density around the eye rims is higher than the body fill, which the digitising software managed carefully so you dont get puckering where the satin meets the fill stitch.

Runs between 12,682 stitches at 3.5 inches and 34,308 at 7.5 inches across nine sizes. Thats a lil more thread than a simple outline design but the colour sequencing is set up efficiently so you only stop six times total for colour changes. Wilcom did the colour order sequencing and it goes body first, then both eyes together, then the chest, which keeps your thread pulls clean.

Pop it on a kids tee, a nursery cushion, a school bag pocket or a fleece hoodie. Stitch the 4-inch file onto a beanie for a centred front panel look. Add a small text block below it with a name if you want a personalised gift. Avoid very pale or white fabric if you want those amber eyes to really pop, the contrast is what sells it.

Drop me a message if the file gives you any trouble and Ill sort it for you.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Kids tee chest printNavy jersey works best, the six-colour design has strong contrast and doesnt need underlining.
  • Nursery cushion coverCushion in 220gsm cotton drill holds the dense eye stitching flat without distortion.
  • School bag or backpack pocketThe 3.5-inch version fits a standard school bag front pocket with room around it.
  • Fleece or sherpa hoodie frontFleece needs a water-soluble topping over the pile so the satin stitches dont sink.
  • Baby beanie centred panelThe 4-inch size centres perfectly on a newborn beanie with two centimetres above the brim.
  • Personalised birthday gift itemPair with a name embroidery below for a personalised first birthday gift on a onesie.
  • Woodland animal nursery hoop setRun with a fox and deer design in matching chocolate thread for a full nursery hoop series.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
