Heres the palm tree with bow design and its got that coastal grandmother summer feel through and through. The tree centres on the design, with eight long forest green fronds fanning out from the top of the trunk like a peacock tail. Each frond has its own directional satin fill so the leaf veins read crisp, not just flat green. Around the middle of the warm tan trunk sits a soft baby pink ribbon, tied off in a fat satin bow with two long tails dripping down past the trunk base. The trunk itself is shaded with horizontal lines mimicking the rough bark texture of a real palm. Down at the bottom the trunk meets a small mound of sandy ground, just a quick sketched outline so it dont overwhelm the rest of the piece.
I drew this back in june for a customer running a beach-vacation merch pop-up in florida, she wanted something that didnt scream surfboards and tiki bars. Just clean coastal style. The pink ribbon was her idea aswell, kinda just to soften it up for her bridesmaid trip totes. Now Leading into june one cruise ship gift shop bought a bunch of these for resort tote runs.
Stitch the largest 7.5-inch on a cream canvas tote front, the tree shape stays narrow so it loves vertical-format gifts. Pop the smaller 3.5-inch on a beach hat brim or a cotton zip pouch. Skip very dark navy or black, the trunk colour gets lost without a lighter ground. Sage green works, oatmeal works, soft butter yellow works real nice. Lil tip from me, it sews great on a 100% cotton waffle towel for the pool bag. Use a tear-away stabiliser for woven cotton, mesh cutaway for stretchy jersey. Density runs friendly here at 25k stitches across the largest size.
