The lily is the first thing you see. Its petals are pale pink, almost blush, and they curve outward with that characteristic lily flare, the tips turning back at the ends. The satin stitching follows each petal's direction so there are no flat patches. Behind the lily and slightly overlapping sits the rose in deep magenta, much more saturated in colour, which is what creates the contrast and makes both flowers more visible rather than less. The foliage is dense bright green and it anchors the whole cluster from below.
Six colours in the file. Green first, then light pink for the lily, magenta for the rose, mauve-brown for the accent flowers, orange for the small filler buds, then black for outlining. The machine stops 5 times. At the smallest 3-inch size youre under 8,000 stitches. At 7 inches its around 21,000, which is what you expect for 2 fully filled blooms with this level of petal detail.
Im getting alot of interest in this one from people making nursery items and baby gift sets. A customer who needed designs for a hospital gift shop wanted this last christmas for a baby blanket corner and asked about suitability on minky fabric. With minky youll need topping on top of the fabric and firm hooping, but it runs fine on the mid-range sizes. Use soft brushed cutaway behind woven cotton, linen, or canvas. Hoop tight and add a layer of topping on any coarse or nubby linen before the run starts.
Best on light and mid-tone base fabrics where the pale-and-deep contrast can breathe. Skip very dark bases, the blush pink lily washes out on navy or black without a backing colour underneath it.
