The patriotic dripping lips design has the top lip as a deep navy band with white star detail on it, the kind of stars youd recognise from the flag but spread out a bit more loosely across the shape. The bottom lip is solid red, and underneath it hangs a row of thick paint drips, some just little blobs, some longer drops with that rounded teardrop tip. There's a thin sliver of white right where the lips meet, which is a nice small detail that stops the two halves blending together.
Ive noticed this type of patriotic lips design gets used a lot more around Memorial Day and July 4th but honestly it works year-round for anyone who likes the red-white-blue colour combo. One customer ordered it on four different tumbler sizes last summer, which I thought was a great idea. Lay tearaway behind stable woven fabric. Pop it on a medium-density topping on terry or fleece so the star detail doesnt sink into the loops. Three colours, six sizes from 3 to 8 inches.
The directional fill on the upper lip runs at an angle that gives it a slight sheen, so it looks slightly different to the flatter fill on the lower red section. Stitch on white cotton for the cleanest result. The drip shapes at the 6 to 8 inch sizes are wide enough to carry the satin thread weight without puckering, but at the 3 inch size use lighter stabiliser so the smaller drip tips stay rounded.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- 4th of July t-shirts for women and teensThe high-contrast navy and red reads clearly on white, grey or light pink women's tees.
- Patriotic tote bags with a bold graphic lookDrip detail adds visual weight to a plain canvas tote without needing any text.
- Summer baseball caps and trucker hatsAt 3-4 inches it fits a cap front panel well, the drips stay readable at that size.
- Tumbler wraps and cup designs for holiday partiesThe 5-6 inch version wraps cleanly around standard skinny tumblers.
- Patriotic tank tops and crop topsWorks on stretchy jersey fabric, the fill density is moderate enough not to pull.
- Custom face masks or bandanasThe star field on the upper lip reads well even on textured or ribbed fabrics.
- Memorial Day and Veterans Day apparelNavy and red thread combination makes this a natural fit for military tribute pieces.
- Notebook covers and canvas pouchesThe simple 3-color sequence makes it a quick stitch on canvas pouches and small accessories.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
