Three peeking black cats lined up in a row, each one hanging their front paws over a ledge and staring out with round white eyes. My niece stitched this onto a pillowcase last October and honestly it looked better than I expected. Theres no colour changes to manage cos its a single solid black fill, so setup is quick and you wont lose your place mid-stitch.

Back it with a medium tearaway or cutaway depending on your fabric. On quilting cotton the tearaway pulls clean, but on towels or fleece go with cutaway so the satin sections dont pucker after a few washes. The border format is horizontal, so it sits along pocket tops, cuffs or the bottom hem of a kitchen towel without any rotation needed. Stitch it slow on the first pass if your machines tension is fussy on dense fill.

Six sizes in the download, smallest at under 2 inches wide, largest at just over 5 inches. Use the 5-inch version on a tote, the compact one on a shirt pocket. Charcoal or navy thread reads nearly identical to black on lighter fabrics. Drop me a message if you cant find the size you need.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Halloween tea towels and kitchen hand towelsThe horizontal format lines up perfectly along the bottom hem of a flour sack or linen hand towel.
  • Pocket hem on a womens shirt or cardiganStitch it flush with the pocket seam on a button-up shirt for a subtle cat detail that shows when hands go in.
  • Cat lover tote bags all year, not just OctoberSingle color means fast sew-out, great for production runs of 10 or more tote bags at once.
  • Sleeve cuffs on a kids halloween sweatshirtThe 3-inch width fits a childs cuff band without crowding, keeps the cat faces readable.
  • Pillowcase border or bedding trimRun it along the pillowcase opening hem, the ledge line aligns with the fabric edge naturally.
  • Bottom hem of a spooky table runnerRepeat the design twice end-to-end on a long runner for a full cat parade effect.
  • Zip pouches and pencil cases with a funny cat edgeThe compact 1.7-inch version fits on a zipper pull tab or small patch for bags and cases.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
