Pelican standing in water belongs in any birds and coastal wildlife collection, frankly its one of the best wading bird files I drew last year. Bird stands ankle-deep in pale water with both wings half-spread out for balance, body straight on, head turned in profile to the right. long orange beak hangs down with a salmon throat pouch tucked underneath. Yellow webbed feet sit beneath three rings of pale blue ripples. Cream feathers carry charcoal tips on the wing edges.

Closer detail and the feather work is whats making this design sing. Each feather row uses directional satin runs that fan out from the spine, layered front to back like a real wing, no flat fills anywhere on the body. Charcoal wing tips fade into cream through 4 thread blends. Throat pouch uses a soft tatami fill graded from rose pink at the rim to peach in the middle, looks like a real pelican pouch. Beak is a glossy orange satin with a thin black line down the centre, eyes are tiny tatami discs.

I drew this last february for a coastal wildlife sanctuary in florida, they wanted it for volunteer crew tee chest prints. One regular bought 7 of the 5-inch version for her dads 70th birthday, hes a retired pelican photographer. people have been ordering it for bird watchers club polos, lagoon tour guide hoodies, beach house guest pillow covers, and grandads coastal kitchen tea towel corners. A customer in tampa stitched 4 last spring for a marina staff uniform run.

Best on smooth solid wovens so the feather rows read crisp. Pop it on cream linen, oatmeal cotton, soft white tea towel, sage chambray, or a pale grey poly polo and the orange beak really sings. Skip cream-on-cream fabric bc the white feathers vanish, and skip terry pile, the loops chop the directional feather work. Pale blue cloth is gorgeous if youre after a watery morning lagoon feel, the ripples blend in soft.

9 sizes from 3.49 inches up to 7.5 wide. Stitch count climbs from 13.7k to 36k so even the biggest version sews fairly quick. Tearaway works on woven shirts, cutaway on knit polos. Hoop tight, the directional satin on the wings wants a stable base. Fine 70/10 needle on poly poly fabrics keeps the satin clean. Send a chat if any feather row reads patchy and Ill rebuild the file by morning.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
