Mocked up the bow big on purpose here. Its not a small decorative touch, the bow actually takes up more visual space than the pencil itself. The loops fill with directional satin at density 819, so they look raised and almost ribbon-like when stitched on a smooth cotton. The pencil body runs in a warm orange-brown satin column and the eraser top is a contrasting blue cap, and thats one of those details that makes the whole thing read as a proper illustration rather than a generic school graphic. People keep asking if theres a version without the stars and honestly the stars are what give it that scattered confetti energy, Id keep em in.

Six colours: crimson red, orange, light pink, sky blue, cream, and black. Five colour changes, and theres a real visual payoff on that fifth pass when the black outlines lock everything together. Stars scatter outward from the design, roughly 3 pink and 3 blue, in a loose asymmetric pattern that spreads right across the composition. On lighter fabrics like white or pale grey, those tiny stars really pop. Stitch range is 15,894 at the 3.5-inch size all the way to 39,922 at 7.5 inches wide. Add glitter thread to the star sections if your machine handles it, I tried it last week with a Madeira Glamour filament and it was a nice touch. Use smooth cotton twill or a stiff canvas with cutaway stabiliser underneath for the cleanest result.

Five sizes, all built in Wilcom EmbroideryStudio. The bow underlay gets set as a base layer first so the satin sits clean on textured fabrics without sinking into the weave. Skip the 7.5-inch on anything smaller than an 8x8 hoop field, but it scales down well to 4 inches for a cap front or a small pouch. Avoid dark base fabrics because the cream and sky blue elements wont read against anything below a mid-grey.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Girls back-to-school tote bag in white or blush canvasThe 5-inch version on a white canvas tote with cutaway gives a clean bright result; blush fabric makes the crimson bow stand out.
  • Sweatshirt chest placement for a first-day-of-school outfitHoop a crew-neck sweatshirt at centre chest with the 4-inch file and medium tearaway for a first-day outfit.
  • Cotton pencil case or zippered school supply pouchThe 3.5-inch fits a standard pencil case front with a floating hoop and firm cutaway stabiliser.
  • Baby girl onesie front for a school-themed photoshootUse the smallest 3.5-inch on a cotton onesie front with soft cutaway; the design is detailed enough to read well at that scale.
  • Iron-on patch on a denim jacket lapel or sleeveCut the 3.5-inch from a sew-in cutaway base and sew it onto a denim jacket as a removable patch.
  • Framed hoop gift for a young student starting a new school yearThe 5-inch in a 7-inch hoop on white linen makes a cheerful start-of-year gift for a young student.
  • Personalised gift bag for a back-to-school bundleStitch the 4-inch onto a reusable kraft-paper-lined fabric bag for a back-to-school treat bundle.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
