5 sizes going from 3.51 inches wide up to 7.51 inches. The penguin is body-navy with a white belly, standing square-on with both arms out holding a string of red, green, yellow, teal and blue lights. Its wearing a red scarf with a small snowflake motif running through it and a santa hat tilted slightly to one side with two little gold star ornaments sticking up from the brim. The overall density runs from 16115 to 39997 stitches depending which size you pick, so the 7.51 inch version is a proper full-size design that needs a large hoop and solid backing.

9 colour stops means this isnt a quick one-thread job. The navy body uses a tight tatami fill to keep the surface smooth, and the red scarf uses directional satin stitching running across to show the knit texture. I usually recommend a stable cutaway stabiliser under the whole hooped area, and if youre going on fleece or terry cloth make sure you lay a water-soluble topping so those fine stripes dont disappear into the pile. One customer sent me a message last Christmas saying they stitched the 5 inch version on a kids navy winter coat and it blended the background colour into the penguin body naturally. Smart move.

Message me if your light bulb sections are skipping thread. Use a fresh 75/11 sharp needle before you start this one. Add this to a kids zip-up hoodie, a sweatshirt, or a flat canvas tote where the full 7 inch version gets the space it deserves. Hoop tight, keep bobbin tension consistent throughout, and centre the design on the chest before you commit.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Kids winter jacket or zip-up hoodie chest placementA navy or white zip hoodie lets the penguin body blend or contrast depending on the fabric colour choice.
  • Holiday sweatshirt for young childrenCotton jersey sweatshirts hold the 9-colour stops well with standard cutaway backing.
  • Christmas tote bag for child's school gift exchangeFlat canvas tote in natural tan shows all 9 colours clearly, especially the multicolour lights.
  • Nursery pillow or baby room holiday decor panelFleece pillow panels need a water-soluble topping to keep the snowflake scarf detail legible.
  • Matching sibling holiday shirts with the 3.51 inch sizeThe 3.51 inch version sits neatly on a shirt chest without overlapping seams on most kids sizes.
  • Christmas stocking with penguin on the front cuff areaFelt or velvet stocking fabric takes the satin outlines well with a cutaway stabiliser underneath.
  • Winter birthday gift tote for a kid born in DecemberReusable cotton gift bags stitched with the full 7 inch design make a keepsake-level presentation.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
