Reach for this one if youre after a valentines design that doesnt scream valentines. Two hand-drawn penguins stand side by side, flipper tips just barely touching, like they're working up the nerve to actually hold flippers. A lil cluster of three red hearts floats above them. Sweet without being syrupy.
The whole drawing has that pen and ink sketch feel I really love. Crosshatch shading runs across the black bodies in fine directional lines, the white bellies are picked out clean, and the hearts pop in a single bright red satin fill. Only 3 colours total which keeps the bobbin swaps minimal. Honestly the simplicity is what makes it work, alot of love designs try too hard.
I digitised it this past january because a customer wrote me asking for something for an anniversary gift she wanted to surprise her wife with. She stitched it on a linen pillow case and sent me a picture, made my whole week. Since then customers have been buying it for valentines pieces and matching couple hoodies.
Stitch on plain cotton, linen or cream canvas for the best contrast against the black ink work. Skip dark fabric since the line work is the design itself, you need the white space behind it to read. Hoop with a tearaway stabiliser for woven fabrics, cutaway if youre going onto a sweatshirt fleece. Try a 60 weight bobbin underneath if your machine handles it, the fine lines will sit a touch crisper.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
