The penguin trio is three little characters with completely different energies and its honestly the personality contrast that makes it work. On the left theres a penguin going absolutely full send into a dance move, one flipper wing flung out wide, feet mid-step, eyes squinted shut like the music just hit. Centre penguin is the sulker, wings crossed tight over the belly, head drooped forward, looking at the floor. Right penguin is holding a newspaper up and reading it with total focus, completely unbothered by whatever drama is happening next to him. Three penguins, three moods, zero cooperation.

The drawing style is soft and rounded, the outlines arent heavy black comic lines, they're lighter and the shading comes from the actual feather-direction stitching so each penguin has a bit of texture and life. Chest patches are a warm amber-orange, feet and beak are tan, bodies are slate grey with a white belly. Simple colour palette, its only 3 main colours, but the variation in pose makes each one read as a distinct individual. Stitch range goes from 8k on the smallest size up to just over 21k on the wide 7.49-inch version.

I get a steady stream of orders from people buying these as a set, it fits perfectly across a wide horizontal format. One customer told me they stitched the set across the front of a kids pillowcase and the dancing penguin is their sons favourite. She said he wont sleep on any other pillow now. The right penguin is mine personally, I relate to him deeply.

Pop the full trio across a wide item like a pillow front, a fleece baby blanket edge, or a tote bag front panel. The 7.49-inch wide version is perfect for that. For smaller items stitch just one penguin at a time using the smaller sizes. The dancing one alone on a kids tee chest is kinda brilliant. Skip patterned fabric, the grey and white palette needs a clean ground.

Use a medium tearaway on stable woven cotton, cream canvas, or soft fleece. That visible stitch texture reads best on smooth fabric where the thread sits proud rather than sinking into the weave. Hoop snug, the wide horizontal design needs even tension across the whole frame. Drop me a message if anything stitches funny on your end.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Kids pillowcase and bedding setsStitch the full 7.49-inch trio across a cream cotton pillowcase front for a kids penguin-themed bedroom set.
  • Baby fleece blanket border embroideryEmbroider the dancing penguin alone on the edge of a soft white fleece baby blanket as a corner detail.
  • Antarctic conservation nonprofit merchandiseAn antarctic conservation nonprofit I know uses these on their fundraiser tote bags for donor thank-you packs.
  • Childrens tote bags and school pouchesPop a single penguin on a canvas school pouch and your kid gets a different personality depending which one you pick.
  • Nursery wall hoop displayHoop the smallest size in a 4-inch wooden frame for a nursery shelf display, three frames side by side works brilliantly.
  • Kids pyjama top chest embroideryStitch the dancing penguin on the chest of pale blue kids pyjamas and it reads perfectly against cotton jersey with tearaway.
  • Zoo and aquarium gift shop productsZoo and aquarium gift shops order these on kids cotton tees for their penguin-feeding-experience souvenir range.
  • Funny adult gift tees and sweatshirtsThe reading-newspaper penguin alone on a grey adult sweatshirt is the quiet funny gift that people keep buying for colleagues.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
