Heres the three playful kittens design and honestly its one of the sweetest cat pieces ive ever made. Three lil grey tabbies in different poses. One sitting tall watching a tiny orange butterfly, one mid-pounce with both paws up swiping at the air, and one stretched low chasing a red ladybug across the ground.
All three kittens share the same kawaii cartoon look. Round chubby faces, oversized eyes, soft pink blush on the ears and cheeks. Grey tabby stripes done with directional stitching so the fur actually reads fluffy, not flat. The clean black outlines around each kitten keep the cartoon feel friendly without going harsh.
Last christmas a customer ordered this on a stack of red toddler pyjama bottoms for her granddaughters and she sent me photos of all three girls wearing them on christmas morning. I get messages from nursery crafters about this design alot, especially heading into baby shower season. Customers are buying it for cat-loving kids non-stop.
Stitch on plain pastel cotton or natural canvas. The vertical 5.5 to 10.5 inch layout suits tall narrow spaces, think tea towel borders, the front panel of a tote, the leg of pyjama bottoms, or a long banner for a kids bedroom door. Skip patterned fabric, the kittens are detailed and need a calm background to read clean.
Use a medium cutaway stabiliser, the kitten bodies are the densest sections at 16,000 to 37,000 stitches across 11 sizes. Slow the machine down on the butterfly and ladybug, theyre tiny fill areas and they like to skip if you push too fast. Run polyester thread on knits so the colours hold up wash after wash.
