Worked up this kitten outline for people who want something clean and adaptable without alot of thread colour fuss. Its a single-colour design, so youre gonna load one spool and just go. The kitten is drawn mid-pounce, front paw lifted, tail flicking up, ears alert, eyes wide. The whiskers are individual satin lines radiating outward, and the fur texture is kinda just suggested by short directional strokes around the ears and chest. No fill, all outline. Thats the open look that makes it work on so many different fabric colours and base materials.

Wilcom EmbroideryStudio mapped the outline path cleanly, routing the running stitches so the needle barely lifts between the paw details and the whisker lines. That matters on an outline-only design because you dont want alot of jump threads showing on the face. Density at 115 keeps the lines fine rather than heavy. Its really really a sketched line-art style that looks hand-drawn when its stitched out. Five sizes from 3.48 x 3.51 inches to 7.46 x 7.51 inches, stitch range 3,735 to 6,452. Use a light cutaway stabiliser on woven tote cloth and tearaway is fine for stable cotton shirts. Skip heavy stabiliser, it causes distortion on the face detail at the smaller hoop.

Last month one customer sent me their kraft canvas tote with the 4.5-inch size stitched in black, and it looked exactly like a proper art print. Run the 4.5-inch chest placement on a standard tee and it sits perfectly without overhanging the neckline. Pop a single spool of your chosen colour and the whole thing stitches in under ten minutes at mid speed. Add a pop of contrasting thread in the bobbin if you want the reverse side to show on reversible bags.

Below are the most common ways people use this design.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Canvas tote bags for cat lovers and pet gift marketsThe 4.5-inch size sits well on the lower front panel of a canvas tote without hitting the seam
  • Kids t-shirts and sweatshirt chest patchesChest placement on a kids tee works best around the 3.5-inch size with light tearaway
  • Cat-themed pillowcases and cushion frontsSingle-colour black thread on white linen pillowcases has a classic graphic look
  • Napkins and cloth placemats for cat-themed table setsStitch count is low enough that standard dinner napkins dont pucker under the hoop
  • Reusable shopping bags for craft fairs and market stallsWorks on natural kraft canvas shopping bags without topping thanks to the light density
  • Personalised pet blankets and fleece throwsThe 6-inch version fills nicely on a large fleece throw corner placement
  • Bookmarks and fabric notebook coversIron-on backing plus the outline stitching gives clean edges on fabric notebook covers

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
