Playful Reindeer with Twinkling Lights Embroidery Design, Instant Download

Theres a playfulness to this reindeer that I really like. Its mid-prance with a string of multicolour christmas lights looped around it, those classic bulb shapes in red, green, yellow and blue. Nine colours total, warm brown for the body, lighter tan highlights, a red nose (obviously), the coloured bulbs, green wire, and white accents for snow or highlights. Its got energy and I digitised it to keep that loose fun feeling rather than making it too stiff or formal.

Five sizes in the file, smallest is 3.5 inches wide and the largest goes to 7.5 inches. Stitch counts run from 14,669 up to 35,413, so the big version is a proper project. I built the file in Wilcom EmbroideryStudio and used directional stitching on the reindeer body so the fur reads with texture rather than looking like a flat brown fill. Tape a medium cutaway stabiliser under knit or fleece and run slow on the light bulb sections where the satin columns are small and close together.

My niece wanted this on a natural linen sweatshirt last christmas and it came out really well, the big 6 inch size centered on the chest. She paired it with red joggers and honestly it was the cutest thing. The 3.5 to 4 inch sizes are great for kids because they sit nicely on smaller chest placements without overwhelming the garment. Best on white, cream or light grey fabric where the nine colours can breathe. Skip dark backgrounds unless you add a white underlay to boost the lighter bulb colours.
