Beagle puppy peeking out from behind two black vertical brushstrokes, one little paw resting on the lower line. Its got cute splashes around him that look hand-painted, splotches of orange, mustard, peach, dusty blue and lavender, all loose and messy round the edges. Real cartoon kawaii energy.

The puppy face is realistic with directional shading, you can see the warmth in the tan fur and the little brown patches over the eyes. Twenty colours go in cause of the splash background, the dogs face itself only uses a handful. Densest part sits around the head where the directional fills doin alot of work.

I get loads of customers asking for puppy pieces for childrens shirts and pet shop merch. Last spring a customer messaged me about stitching it on her granddaughters quilt for a birthday gift, sweet little use of a 5 inch size. Reach out if youve got questions about thread colours, Ill send swatches.

Stitch on light fabrics for this 1, white, cream, oatmeal, soft sage all let those watercolours read. Skip black or navy, theyll just disappear. Use a cutaway stabiliser cause the density gets hefty in the bigger sizes.

9 sizes from 3.5 to 7-in wide, the height stays low at around 2 to 4 inches cause of the horizontal layout. Smallest size loses some splash detail so I reckon 5 inch is the sweet spot for kids tees and tote bags. The 7 inch version really shines on a quilt panel or pillow front.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Kids cotton tee frontsA 5 inch size centred on a white cotton kids tee makes a soft sweet front piece for ages 4 to 10.
  • Pet shop merchandise totesStitched on a cream canvas tote at 7 inches the puppy works well for pet boutique gift bags and shop merch.
  • Baby quilt panelsPop a 7.5 inch version onto a baby quilt panel and it becomes the focal point for a soft watercolour nursery quilt.
  • Vet clinic uniform polosOn the left chest of a vet clinic polo at 4 inches it brings warmth without making the uniform look too playful.
  • Dog mom canvas pillowsA 6 inch size on an oatmeal cotton pillow gives dog mums a cosy living room piece for the sofa.
  • Kids backpack patchesStitch a 4 inch version onto a kids backpack pocket and it holds up well through schoolyard wear and tear.

  • Birthday gift hoodiesOn a pastel pink hoodie at 5 inches the puppy makes a sweet birthday gift for a niece who loves dogs.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
