Drew this one from a photo of an actual tabby, so the cat face is detailed. Whisker lines, amber eye catchlight, even the ear texture all stitched out individually in dense directional satin sections. Then the right side just explodes into a full rainbow paint splash, like someone knocked over every ink bottle at once. Sixteen thread colours fanning outward in drips and spatter dots. its the type of design where people stop and stare a bit before they figure out whats going on.

On a white or cream fabric the colours pop the most, specially the teal and violet sections which sit right at the edge of the splash. And because the cat half stays mostly grey and black, your eye goes straight to those amber eyes first. Skip dark navy or black fabric, the grey cat half disappears into it.

A customer grabbed this last spring for a tote she was making as a gift for her sister who fosters cats. Said her sister cried when she opened it. I dont know if I can take credit for the crying but the design helped.

Nine sizes from 2.49 x 3.50 inches up to 5.33 x 7.50 inches. Use a medium-weight stabiliser under most fabrics. Pop a layer of cutaway behind if you're going on anything stretchy, the stitch density on the head section is high enough to distort knit without it. Hit me up if you run into trouble.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Cat lover tote bags and reusable shopping bagsThe rainbow splash fills the full side panel of a tote and always gets comments at the checkout line.
  • Kids' hooded sweatshirts and zip-up jacketsLooks great centred on the back yoke of a kids hoodie, works in the 4-inch size for smaller frames.
  • Pet bandanas and collar accessoriesThe smaller sizes fit neatly on a bandana corner without overcrowding the fabric.
  • Throw pillows for a playful living roomUse the 5-inch size on a 16x16 pillow and the colours carry across the whole cushion front.
  • Denim jacket back panels for a bold statementThe largest size fits most back panels without needing to split the design.
  • Pencil cases and zippered pouchesStitches cleanly on canvas zipper pouches with a single layer of tearaway under the zip.
  • Baby room wall art hooped and framedFrame the finished hoop directly as nursery wall art, no extra finishing needed.

Behind every stitch

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
