Six bands of colour arch over two puffy blue clouds, the classic rainbow shape but stitched out properly with clean layered satin fills. The outer band is red, then it goes yellow, a pale celadon green, aqua, a deep navy strip near the inside, and a lighter sky blue completes the arc. Wide and a bit flat, more landscape than square. The two clouds sit at the base on either side, round and satin-filled, very nursery-appropriate without being too babyish. Ive seen this used on things well past nursery age, its just a solid rainbow that works anywhere you need one.

Stitch it on white or cream cotton for the clearest colour separation between bands. Run cutaway under baby items especially, because the density at 1,014 units in the 5 and 6 inch sizes is genuinely solid and needs proper backing. Dont hoop the fabric too tightly on knit onesie material or the red outer band can distort at the edges. Pop the 2 inch version on a bib pocket or a small hooped keepsake, it stitches out fast and the 6 colour sequence is easy to follow. Run it at about 70 percent speed on any textured or waffle-knit nursery fabric, thats usually all you need to stop skipped stitches.

I get orders for this one constantly around baby shower season, people buy multiples to do a whole coordinated nursery set. Stitch the 6-in run on a onesie chest, a matching 3 inch on a bib and a 2 inch on the corner of a burp cloth for a gift set that looks like it came from a boutique. Last month I saw someone in a sewing group who'd done exactly that on white waffle-knit and it looked absolutely gorgeous. Dont overthink the colour choices for the fabric base, white and cream both work brilliantly with this palette.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Nursery decor items like hooped wall art or small framed piecesThe wide low shape fits perfectly along the bottom hem of a onesie without crowding the snap area
  • Baby blanket corners or burp cloth bordersAt 2 inches it's small enough for a burp cloth corner or bib pocket area
  • Onesies and rompers for newborn through toddler sizesThe 6-colour layered look stitches out beautifully on white or cream fleece blankets
  • Baby shower gift bags and favour pouchesStretched in a 6 inch hoop it makes a ready-made wall piece with no extra framing needed
  • Rainbow baby announcements on a pillow or keepsake hoopThe rainbow baby meaning resonates strongly with parents who've experienced pregnancy loss

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
