This beetle is the kinda design that turns heads at a craft fair, dark, detailed, almost a vintage scientific plate pulled out of an old book. The whole bug sits top-down with its shell dead centre, six segmented legs splayed out evenly, two antennae curling up off the head and a pair of small front pincers tucked under the face.

Shell does the heavy lifting visually. Slate blue grey base, painted with rounded black blob spots, scattered like a leopard pattern, both wing cases line up clean down the centre. The thorax bump above sits a touch lighter with three white satin highlights, gives that domed wet look, kinda like the bug just crawled out into the light.

Legs and antennae are gonna be the talking point. Each leg has tiny serrated barbs along the edge, the joints curl inward and the foot tips bend back like proper insect anatomy, no shortcuts. The antennae carry beaded segments that taper to a fine point. Honestly its the kind of detail that looks intimidating to stitch, but the file pulls it off lovely.

Density runs high here, 52k stitches on the largest size. So this beetle was digitised proper, not a quick auto-trace. I get messages all the time from buyers stitching realistic bug designs, the leg barbs are usually where cheap files fall apart. Last halloween a customer sewed it onto a charcoal denim jacket back panel for a goth shop and the spotted shell read like an old natural history print, sharp and weird.

Stitch this on light to medium fabric for the cleanest read. Cream cotton, oatmeal linen, sand canvas, even pale denim, the dark navy shell pops hard. Skip pale slick polyester aswell, the heavy fills bunch. Use a firm cutaway stabiliser, no exceptions, the antennae and leg detail need that backing, otherwise edges curl. Hoop tight. Run a stitch test on scrap. Slow the machine for the leg satin. Message me if any colour swap goes weird and Ill rework the punch fast.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
