I digitised this lil tabby portrait back in january after my customer sent a photo of her cat Marble. She wanted something that looked like a real painting on her cushion, not a cartoon. So I spent a bunch of late nights tweaking the directional fill on the cheek fur till the stripes flowed right.

Twelve colours pull this off. 9 sizes total. Stitch counts run 15413 on the smallest hoop up to thirty thousand three forty three on the 7-in top version. Density 601 which is moderate, enough for photo-real shading but the underlay is layered so the fur stays soft, not stiff. Hoop a heavy cutaway stabiliser. 75/11 sharp needle. Slow your machine to 600 spm for the eyes and nose detail. The surprise layer of this build. Im sharing what time on the machine taught me. Thats the layer thats a surprise once stitched.

One customer ya, the one with Marble, ran the 6 inch print on a velveteen cushion and it came out looking like an oil painting. Thats what this design does best. The directional stitching catches light from different angles. Pair em with dark navy or burgundy fabrics for the strongest contrast.

Use it on cushion covers, denim jackets, canvas pet portraits, framed hoops, tote bags, throw blankets. A bunch of cat-mum customers use these as gifts. Avoid sheer or stretchy fabrics, the layered fills need a stable base. Drop me a message on chat if you want a different fur colour digitised and Ill do the rework within two days.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Velveteen cushion cover frontMarble the tabbys portrait cushion was the original brief from a customer who wanted oil-painting realism rather than cartoon flat.
  • Denim jacket back panel pieceback panel design for a cat-cafe owner; double cutaway underneath plus a slow 600 spm machine speed holds the eye detail crisp.
  • Canvas framed hoop wall artReads as fine-art rather than craft-pattern, which a pet-photography studio shop owner mentioned at order time five canvas hoop frames.
  • Heavy cotton tote bag sideHeavy cotton tote with two cutaway layers plus tearaway on top, my customer used hers as her daily vet-clinic supply bag.
  • Throw blanket corner accentFleece throw-blanket corner for a couch where the family cat actually naps, ballpoint needle keeps the fabric stable through the fur fill.
  • Pet memorial keepsake pillowBrushed cotton memorial pillow for a customer who lost her cat Whisper, the directional stitching catches lamp light like real coat texture.
  • Wool blend coat lapel patchWool-blend coat lapel patch at the smallest size; water-soluble topping stops the fur strokes sinking into the wool fibres.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
