Punched the red flame spider for that low-light Halloween shirt energy, wanted something that read more like a character than a nature study. Last halloween I sold more of this design than any other spider in the shop, people just respond to the red in a way they dont with black-only designs.

Five colour stops: grey underlay base, then red legs R255 G0 B0 over it, dark crimson R102 G0 B0 for the shading ring around the abdomen, a small white highlight pass for the claw marks inside the body, finally black for the outer outline. 4 colour changes total. Theres 71 trims at the smallest 2.73-inch size and 82 at the big 5.84-inch version, so have sharp snips ready. The directional stitching on the legs means the red thread catches light at different angles when the fabric moves, which is why it looks more alive than a flat fill would.

Digitised in professional digitising software, medium density 468. Add it straight to a black base fabric and the grey underlay vanishes completely, leaving just red legs and a red-glow abdomen. Stitch it on white fabric and all 5 colours show in full contrast. Use standard tearaway stabiliser on woven fabrics. Pop it on denim with cutaway backing for anything thats gonna get washed repeatedly.

I get messages asking about this one specifically for costume work because the red reads well in photos. One customer ordered the 5.50-inch version on a black jacket chest piece for a halloween event and send me a photo, and it looked genuinely alarming in a good way.

5 sizes, 2.73 to 5.84 inches wide, 9,329 to 20,507 stitches. Message me if ya need a different file format sorted.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Halloween and gothic fashion garmentsRed on black denim reads almost neon under certain lighting, the 5.84-inch size fills a jacket chest panel well
  • Bold jacket or hoodie patchesThe 3.50-inch version on a black hoodie sleeve is a smaller placement that still carries alot of impact
  • Dark-themed home decor and pillow coversOn a dark grey velvet pillow the five colours read cleanly, grey underlay blends into the fabric
  • Horror or alternative costume accessoriesThe white highlight details inside the abdomen make this worth using on costume pieces where close-up photos will be taken
  • Statement art hoops and framed textile piecesMounted in a black shadow box with red backing paper for a gothic wall art piece that cost almost nothing to make

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
