Worked up this red poppy flower design with a proper botanical journal feel. The main bloom sits in the centre, petals open like crepe paper with that soft crinkle look. Off to the side theres a little fuzzy seed pod bud thats just about to open, sitting up high on its own little stem. The long curving green stem runs underneath both, with a couple of olive green leaf shapes.

Style isnt your typical solid satin fill. The petals have a pink wash underneath bleeding past the red on top, kinda like a watercolour artist laid down water first then dropped in pigment. Real loose sketchy line work in black sits over the top to give it definition. The fuzzy bud has those little hair details around the seed pod that you only get with proper directional stitching.

Eight threads total which sounds alot but its mostly small fills. Black does most of the line work at 3,219 stitches, red handles the petals at 1,914, the pink underlay adds 1,147. Customers been using this for memorial day pieces, anzac day apparel, and one customer made a whole batch for a remembrance event her nan organised last november.

Five ranging 3.5-7.5 wide 7.5 max, stitch counts 7,942 to 19,122 which is light for a design this complex. Heights are short, just 1.77 to 3.79 inches, so its a landscape style flower thats wider than tall.

Stitches lovely on cotton, linen, light canvas, and lightweight denim. Skip stretch knits for the bigger sizes because the slender stem line can pull. Pair light cutaway under the woven fabrics, a soft cutaway on jersey if you do go that route. Hoop tight and let me know if anything stitches funny, ill replace the file. Text me a note if anything looks off and Ill resend the file.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Memorial day tote bagsRemembrance Day tote for a fundraiser, the loose watercolour style reads botanical not costume and suits all ages.
  • Botanical journal tshirtsFlorist shop drawstring bag in kraft brown canvas, the poppy reads as packaging that customers carry home proudly.
  • Linen tea towel cornersGarden apron bib, the sketch style feels right on someone who keeps actual poppies in their front bed.
  • Cottagecore pillow coversOxford shirt cuff pocket on the smaller size, the slender stem-and-bloom combination suits the button-down format.
  • Garden apron chest accentsDecorative napkin corner for a spring lunch table, the crepe-paper petals feel cottagecore without trying too hard.
  • Florist shop drawstring bagsLinen has more drape at larger sizes, so drop the density setting slightly and the watercolour underlays lay smoother.
  • Cotton dress shirt pocketsMum's birthday tote, specifically the tall 7.5-inch build on oatmeal fabric because the pink wash reads gentle and considered.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
