actually straightforward colour palette on this one, which honestly is what makes it stand out. Last summer I had a run of butterfly orders and this was the design my customers kept choosing over the fancier ones. Four threads: deep crimson-red on the upper wings, golden yellow on the lower wings, black for the slender body and outline, and cream for the edge highlights. Digitising this with four threads kept the stitch count manageable and the wing shapes stay crisp even at the smaller sizes.

Five sizes from 2.68 inches wide up to 5.74 inches wide. Stitch range is 13,261 to 36,211, and density is around 840, so the satin on the wings doesnt build up too thick. Pair it with a tearaway stabiliser on woven cotton or linen. Hooped on anything stretchy you'd want cutaway underneath to stop the underlay shifting.

Use directional satin fills that follow the natural curve of each wing section. When light catches the finished piece the red and yellow really show their difference in sheen. Add the 2.68 inch size on a shirt pocket or a collar patch. Stitch the 5.74 inch version on a canvas bag front or a cushion centre. One customer customised a set of tote bags for a garden birthday and came back for the sunflower design next, which tracks.

Email a note if a file format doesnt open and Ill swap it for whichever one your machine needs.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
