Flowing cursive letters spell out "Happy Valentines Day" across the full width of the design, and the capitals on the H and V have extended swash strokes that curl underneath and loop back in. 2 colours total, a deep red for the main script and soft blush for the shadow underlay beneath each letter. The stitch count goes from 15,491 stitches at 3.39 inches wide all the way to 32,653 stitches at 7.25 inches, so this is a proper dense fill on the larger sizes. Density sits at 600 stitches per inch which gives the satin columns a sheen that reads beautifully on cotton and polyester blend fabrics.

Hoop your fabric with a thick backer under it. And thats non-negotiable here, the letterforms are wide and the underlay runs end-to-end before the fill goes down, so a flimsy backing will let things shift mid-stitch. Press water-soluble film over terry cloth towels or fleece pullovers if you dont want the pile catching under the fill stitches. One customer sent me a photo of this on a dark burgundy fleece blanket with the blush shadow flipped to cream, looked really sharp.

Ping me if you want colour advice for swapping the 2-thread combo. The design is fairly forgiving in terms of colour substitution because the shadow layer is subtle, its really just a depth effect under the main red. Use white or ivory as the second thread and swap the red to any bold solid and you've got a totally different feel. Run it on a Valentine table runner, a pillowcase, a hoodie, or a cotton tea towel for gifting in February.

Stitch the 4 inch version onto pocket squares or a shirt cuff for something more subtle. The smallest 3.39 inch size still holds all the letterform detail cleanly because of how the directional stitching is set up in embroidery software. Bold lettering like this tends to collapse below 3 inches but this one holds well.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Valentine's Day gift blankets and throw pillowsThe 7 inch version centred on a red fleece blanket with cream shadow thread is a fast, popular gift idea.
  • Fleece pullovers and hoodies for FebruaryChest placement on a plain hoodie at 5 to 6 inches works nicely, use a medium cutaway behind the fleece.
  • Cotton tea towels for giftingA 4 inch version on a linen tea towel and gifted with chocolates is a reliable small-business seller in January.
  • Table runners and table linenCentre on a natural linen table runner and stitch 3 repeats end-to-end for a full-length Valentine dinner setting.
  • Shirt cuffs and pocket squares for subtle placementThe 3.39 inch size fits a shirt cuff or pocket square cleanly with the full lettering still readable.
  • Fabric gift bags and pouchesStitch on pre-made cotton pouches for chocolate or soap gift sets, the bold script prints the name of the occasion clearly.
  • Tote bags for Valentine's eventsWorks on canvas tote bags at the 5 inch size, the red and blush contrast stands out well on natural or white canvas.

Behind every stitch

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
