Heres the sailing boat sunset patch and its got that proper 80s retro feel without being kitschy. Round patch shape, bold black border ring, and inside sits a full little scene. Single-mast sailboat in pure silhouette right in the middle, a big setting sun behind it with rays fanning out, 3 small birds drifting across the sky.
The colour blocking is what makes it. Coral pink up top fades into pale peach near the sun, then violet purple kicks in for the sea below with all that choppy wave detail done in black silhouette over the top. Recieved alot of compliments on the colour choice when I first stitched one out for a customer last summer, the pink and purple combo is unusual for a nautical piece but it really sells the sunset moment.
Because the design comes bordered and circular it sits beautifully as a chest patch, jacket back patch, or accent on a tote. 11 sizes ranging from a 2.5 inch keychain size to a 7.5 jumbo across so you have room to play. Stitch counts range from 12k on the small to 54k on the biggest, density at 978 so its a hefty fill. 5 thread colours, 1 colour change minimum.
Stitch on black, navy, white or denim and skip printed fabric since the silhouette work needs a clean background or you lose the sailboat shape entirely. Use a heavy cutaway stabiliser for the full 7.5, the colour blocks pack tight and any pull on the fabric will distort the sun rays.
Pop on the chest pocket of a cream surf shop tee, drop on the the back of a denim shirt for a road trip vibe, or run on a beach tote for summer holiday gifting. If sample run looks off send me a note and I will rework the colour stops same day.
