The cat is sittin there lookin absolutely unbothered with a big red santa hat tipped back on its head. Fluffy round face, 2 big dot eyes, small triangle ears just peeking out from under the white pompom trim. The hat fill is a proper satin red and the white fluffy brim band gets its own grey underlay to keep the edges crisp. 5 colours in the file: black outlines and face details, grey underlay on the brim, red for the main hat, yellow bulbs and aqua bulbs on the string lights.

And then theres the string of lights. A lil bunch of christmas light bulbs in red, yellow and aqua scattered across the lower half of the design on a curling grey wire that loops and twists like the cat literally sat in a box of lights and refused to move. Which is extremely accurate in my experience. The wire uses satin column stitching same as the outlines so the whole thing has a consistent line weight from the hat brim down to the last bulb at the bottom.

I get messages every november from cat cafe owners, cat-themed gift shop vendors and Etsy sellers asking which of my designs works on aprons and tote bags. This is the one I tell em. Stitch count is 5,537 at the smallest 2.38-inch height up to 13,196 at the largest 5.08-inch, so its not a dense file and runs fast even on lighter cotton. 3 colour changes means 4 stops total, which is manageable on almost any mid-range home machine.

Place on snow cotton or warm beige linen, pale grey fleece or a light oatmeal canvas. Skip dark navy or black here, the grey hat brim detail and the aqua bulbs need a pale ground to read properly. Slide stiff polymesh behind the work on woven cotton and cutaway on jersey. Hoop firm, the curling light wire has long runs between bulbs and any slack in the hoop will cause the wire to wander. Pick the 4.51-inch size for a tote bag face panel and the small 2.38-inch for a mug rug or small pocket patch.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
