Its a cat in a Santa hat and thats basically all you need to know. The cat sits upright, round and fluffy looking, with the red Santa hat tilted just slightly to one side like it slipped a bit. The expression on this cats face is exactly what youd expect from a cat someone dressed up for christmas, not thrilled but tolerating it. Big round eyes, little smug mouth.

The fur has proper directional stitching so it actually reads as fluffy rather than just a flat filled shape. White satin trim on the hat brim, pompom at the tip, and those dark outlines that give the whole thing good definition even on mid-toned fabrics. Ten colours total and alot of thread changes through the sequence, but the file handles it well.

I get messages every christmas season from people who own cats and want something for their holiday sweatshirts. And this one has been one of my most popular christmas designs two years running now. I had one customer order it for a whole set of matching family tote bags, one for each family member, which I thought was a brilliant idea honestly.

Comes in 5 sizes, smallest at 3.5 inches wide and largest at 7.5 inches. Stitch count goes from around 20k at the smaller end up to 54k stitches at the largest. Use a cutaway stabiliser for any knit fleece or sweatshirt fabric, its a dense design and you want it to sit flat after washing. Works on navy, cream, grey, white and forest green.

Best results on a mid-weight cotton fleece or a plain terry cloth. Skip very dark fabrics at the smaller sizes since the detail can get lost. Hit me up if you have any file issues and ill get it sorted fast.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Christmas sweatshirts for cat ownersThe 5 inch size centred on a grey or navy sweatshirt is the go-to christmas piece for cat people every season.
  • Holiday pet-themed tote bagsOn a canvas tote it makes a fun gift bag that cat owners will reuse long after the holidays.
  • Cat lover gift pouchesStitched on a small cotton zip pouch it becomes a sweet gift wrap alternative for cat-themed presents.
  • Festive kitchen towelsOn a cream or white kitchen towel the detail really shows and it doubles as festive home decor.
  • Christmas stockings for petsA smaller version on the cuff of a red felt stocking looks adorable hanging by the fireplace.
  • Family matching holiday shirtsMatched across a set of plain shirts it gives families a coordinated christmas look without being too formal.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
