Mocked up this Santa face close-up because I wanted something that was kinda just the face, no full body, no sleigh, no reindeer, just Santa's mug filling the whole hoop. The beard is in a fluffy cream satin that fans out from the chin up to the cheeks, and the hat is a proper scarlet with a white cuff and a little pom at the top right corner. The eyes are small and round with a slight squint, gonna give it that jolly look without going cartoonish. Nine colours in total, peach for the face skin tone, a darker blush for the cheeks, black for the eyes and pupils, and then the hat and beard tones.

A technically demanding file. Stitch counts run from 40,693 at 4.51 inches all the way to 77,067 at the largest 7.51-inch size, which is a lot of thread going down. The file was digitised through professional tools, and the density sits at 1,458 which is high, thats deliberate because the beard needs that fluffiness to read correctly and you wont get it at a lower density. The digitising on the beard used satin columns running in different angles so theyre picking up light differently, thats what makes it look thick rather than flat.

A customer ordered the 7-inch size last christmas for a navy onesie and sent images a week later. Im happy with how the peach face tone sat against the dark navy, it contrasted better than I expected. The beard seriously popped on the dark base. Run it on any dark-coloured garment and youll get that same contrast. Navy, forest green, charcoal, all work well.

Use cutaway stabiliser, no question, this is too heavy for tearaway. Add a water-soluble topping on the beard area specifically because the satin fill benefits from a smooth run surface. Pair it with a fleece or jersey base for kids garments, the softness of those fabrics suits the rounded face shape. Best to stitch the beard last in your colour sequence so it sits on top of the face fill.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Baby onesies and infant rompers for first Christmas photosThe 4.51-inch file is sized for a standard 12-month onesie chest panel without crowding the snaps.
  • Kids sweatshirts as Christmas morning wearStitch the 6-inch version on a crew-neck sweatshirt for kids aged 4-8, it centres well on the chest.
  • Holiday stockings with Santa face on the cuff panelHoop the stocking cuff flat and run the 5-inch file for a face that fills the cuff without spilling over.
  • Christmas pyjama sets for family matching outfitsRun matching sizes on two sets of pyjamas for a parent-child Christmas morning look.
  • Felt ornament panels for door wreathsCut stiff felt to 8 inches, stitch the 7-inch file, trim and hang as a Santa face ornament on a wreath.
  • Tote bags for holiday gift wrappingThe 5-inch file on a natural canvas tote makes a simple Christmas bag for kids to carry gifts in.
  • Seasonal throw pillow covers in dark navy or greenPair the 7-inch size with a dark navy cover for a Santa pillow that works as a couch accent through December.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
