Sea turtles are one of those subjects that just works for coastal and beach-themed items, and I made this one kinda specifically for the summer market. Five colours in the palette, clean and restrained which honestly makes it more versatile. Nine sizes from 3.05 to 6.52 inches wide, stitch counts from 19,234 at the smallest up to 42,307 at the largest. my standard software digitised it at 864 stitches per square inch, moderate density that sits well on both cotton and linen without pulling the weave.

The shell scute sections are stitched in a mosaic fill pattern with each plate section separated cleanly, so the seam lines read as distinct borders between the olive green plates. The flipper surface uses directional satin that follows the flipper length, which gives it a natural skin-like texture. Hoop with a cutaway stabiliser for best results, the shell area has enough density that tearaway can shift registration between the scute sections, and you want those borders to stay sharp. Cotton, linen, and canvas all work well.

Use this on beach-themed tote bags, summer t-shirts, coastal cushion covers, or framed linen hoops for a bathroom or bedroom. Pale backgrounds let the olive and sage tones come forward nicely, try natural linen, cream cotton, white canvas, or pale sand-coloured terry cloth for towels. Skip patterned fabric, the mosaic shell needs a calm background to read properly at smaller sizes. The 3.05 inch size fits on a baseball cap brim or a small zip pouch without crowding.

A customer wrote me last june after stitching the 5 inch version onto a set of natural linen tea towels, she kinda loved how the olive tones matched the linen colour and gave it a really natural coastal feel. Stitch on pale grey jersey for a more modern look, the turtle reads clean and graphic at any size.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
