Scissors, a thread spool, a needle, and a thimble, arranged as if someone set them down on a cutting table and just left them there. No border frame, no symmetrical layout, just the tools in a loose flat-lay grouping that reads naturally on cream or natural linen fabric. Two colour threads, a main fill and a contrasting outline and detail thread. The scissors blade gap needs clean underlay to hold the edges without gapping, and at 390 density on a cutaway stabiliser base you get exactly that.

Stitch counts run from 8036 on the 3.5-in run up to 20800 on the full 7.5-inch version, so its a medium-run on most machines. Use a cutaway stabiliser for all 5 sizes, the fine line detail on the needle eye and the thimble rim needs a locked base especially on anything with any give in the weave. Ive hooped this on a canvas tote, on a waffle-weave cotton tea towel with topping film, and on a denim pocket square, and the needle detail stayed readable every time. Not a given with thin-line elements at small sizes, so Im glad the underlay sequencing held up the way it did.

Designs like this one get gifted to sewists and quilters and crafters, anyone who has a sewing room and wants something on their gear that calls it out. A customer last autumn stitched it onto a project bag she made for her mum who had just got her first embroidery machine. She said the scissors were what sold her on this version over the other sewing-tools files I carry. Stitch it on a project bag, a pincushion cover, a notions pouch, or a craft apron front panel. The 2-colour build stays clean on any fabric as long as the thread tone contrasts with the base.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Sewing project bag front panel as a gift for a crafting friendCraft project bag for a seamstress friend, a customer said the scissors were what sold the recipient on this version over other sewing-tools designs.
  • Apron bib for a seamstress or sewing room apron giftApron bib at 5 to 7 inches for a seamstress or quilter's studio apron, a gift that gets worn rather than shelved.
  • Pincushion cover fabric as a handmade craft accessoryPincushion cover in sturdy cotton at a smaller size, the flat-lay grouping wraps around the rounded shape without the fill distorting at the curve.
  • Notions pouch front panel for organising sewing suppliesNotions pouch front panel at the 3 in start version centred, a practical sewing accessory that the craftsperson will actually use daily.
  • Quilt label or fabric tag for a handmade quilt projectQuilt label on muslin at the smallest size for the back of a handmade quilt, the needle and spool motif reads immediately as a maker's mark.
  • Denim tote bag pocket panel for a craft fair carry bagJournal cover front panel before binding for a sewist's sketchbook, the flat-lay grouping looks intentional on a craft notebook cover.
  • Framed hoop art for a sewing room wall displaySewing room wall hoop art on natural linen, the artisan mood of the tools sits naturally in a creative studio space.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
