Stitched out this skeleton finger lips piece for the gothic pinup crowd, its edgy without being too horror. The lips sit up top, full glossy red, parted slightly with grey-white skeleton teeth showing between them. The lower lip catches a darker red shadow that gives it that wet shine look. Underneath, a skeleton hand pushes upward with one bony finger raised to the lips in a shush gesture.

Anatomy on the hand is proper detailed, you can count the finger bones, see the knuckle joints, the wrist articulates. Black thread does the heavy outline work at 2,013 stitches, red and dark red fill the lip body at 4,660 and 5,042, white and grey handle the teeth and bone work. Five threads total which keeps it manageable for a piece this detailed.

I had this design sitting in the draft folder for months and finally finished it for halloween last october. Customers been ordering it for hoodies, denim jackets, gothic boutique merch, and one customer in portland oregon ordered the biggest version for the back of a leather jacket panel for her band tour merch. Its a vertical design, taller than wide, so it sits beautifully on a sleeve or down the centre of a hoodie front. Honestly Im chuffed with how the lip shine came out, theres alot of subtle satin direction at play.

Five sizes from 2.51 inches wide up to 5.37 inches, with heights ranging 3 in through 7.5 inches. Stitch counts 23,602 to 61,776 which is dense for the size. The lips section eats alot of bobbin thread because of that satin fill, so wind a fresh one before starting the biggest size.

Stick to dark fabric, black is best, charcoal or deep navy also works, the red and white really pop. Skip light colours because the design loses its gothic punch on cream or oatmeal. Use a cutaway stabiliser since the lips have dense satin fill that can pull on knit fabric. Slow the machine speed for the lip satin section. Drop me a note if anything stitches off.

  • Denim jacket back patchesSleeve placement down the upper arm at 5 inches on a black hoodie, the vertical orientation means it sits along the seam cleanly.
  • Halloween costume crop topsGothic boutique tote in black canvas, the lips pop hard against dark fabric and makes a year-round carry rather than just october.
  • Bandana tie front patchesTattoo studio tee for counter staff, the skull hand shush gesture anchors the shop vibe without extra branding needed.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
