Worked up this design because the combination of spooky and floral keeps showing up everywhere and most versions of it are pretty half-hearted. This one commits. The hand is a full skeletal structure, every knuckle and metacarpal laid out in grey-white bone tones, and its genuinely holding a proper flower bouquet, not just resting against one. The flowers are big open orange-yellow daisies with yellow centres and then a scatter of hot-pink cosmos in between, all sitting in dark green leaves with a ribbon-wrapped stem finish at the base.

Nine colour stops, 8 colour changes, 164 trims on the 4.5 chest and 175 on the largest at 5.5 inches. The bone-white fill on the hand knuckles uses a fairly dense underlay to stop the grey-white from sinking into the fabric. Built in professional tools, the leaf sections have a directional satin run that follows the leaf veins, which separates them visually from the hand bones sitting in front of them. Stick to medium cutaway on a black tee, the fill density needs backing support or youll get puckering around the knuckle sections.

Black tee with bone white and dusty pink florals is the obvious play, and it works. But one customer ran this on a sage green fabric and the orange flowers had a completely different energy, more harvest festival than halloween, which opened up the design to year-round use in their mind. Ive seen it on canvas bags, denim jackets, and a really nice framed hoop piece using black velvet as the ground fabric. Run a test stitch on scrap before you commit the real piece. Skip linen blends, the bones float without a tight weave and thats a finish you cant fix later.

Four sizes from 4.5 inches through to 7.5 wide. Not a small design, it needs hoop space to breathe. Pair with heavy-weight cutaway for anything stretchy.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Halloween tees and long-sleeve shirts with a floral twistCentre the 5-inch version on a black tee chest, bone-white thread for the hand and dusty pink for the cosmos blooms.
  • Gothic or alternative style denim jacketsStitch the 6-inch version on the back panel of a denim jacket, use a heavy cutaway and a topping for crisp flower edges.
  • Day of the Dead themed costume accessoriesPlace the 4.5-inch size on a satin sash or waistband for a Day of the Dead costume accessory piece.
  • Tote bags for spooky-aesthetic shoppersUse the 5-inch version on a black canvas tote side panel, the orange-yellow flowers pop strongly against dark ground.
  • Framed hoop art on black velvet for gothic home decorStretch black velvet over a 10-inch hoop frame and use the largest size for a gothic wall art display piece.
  • Halloween party table runners and seasonal linensStitch the 4.5-inch version onto a table runner panel at each end for a halloween dining table setup.
  • Alternative bridal accessories and hen-night sashesRun the 4.5-inch version on a white ribbon sash for alternative bridal events or a spooky hen-night theme.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
