Worked up this skull and pink rose for the tattoo shop owner who orders alot of patches off me each spring. She wanted a classic flash style memento mori piece that her apprentices could stitch on cotton aprons. So I drew up a front facing bone white skull with a big hot pink rose bloomin straight out the top of the skull cap, two dark forest green leaves flankin it.

The skull itself is done in heavy black line shading, deep crosshatch inside the eye sockets and across the cheekbones, fine pen detail along the teeth row. Only five thread colours total but each one carries weight, that hot pink bloom pops loud against the bone ivory and the deep green leaf work gives the whole composition that vintage tattoo flash flatness. Honestly its one of my favourite halloween pieces this year, cant stop stitchin samples. A paler mint midrib runs through each leaf for the only soft accent.

Best fabrics here are mid weight cotton, denim, twill, canvas, or felt. Black, deep navy, charcoal, cream and oatmeal all work. But that hot rose bloom really sings against a dark ground, so I would push the black tee or black hoodie option first. Skip busy patterned fabrics aswell since the cross hatch shading wants a clean field to read properly. Shes been ordering refills on the patches every quarter, says her clients keep askin for em.

Five sizes from 3.58 inches wide at the smallest up to 6.75 inches wide and 8.51 tall for a back panel piece. Stitches range from about 27k at the smallest to 55k at the largest. Back it with soft cutaway behind, the dense black skull shading section pulls the hoop hard so dont skimp on backing. Hooped on a black sweatshirt last halloween, customer atleast bought four to gift her tattoo crew at the studio christmas party.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
