Drew up this skull snail one autumn afternoon when I was knee deep in halloween orders and wanted somethin a bit weirder than the usual pumpkin and bat stuff. Honestly its grown on me. The skull sits sideways like the head of the snail, slot in next to the coiled shell, and a yellow daisy plus a smaller pink bloom poke out near the top rim.

The colour work is what really sells it. The shell is dusty pink with a darker coral spiral, the snails body is a mossy slate blue with that dotted texture you see on garden snails, and the skull stays ivory bone white with heavy black line shading. Eight thread colours total, lots of cross hatching detail under the fills so the whole thing reads like an old natural history sketch rather than a cartoon.

Best stitches on cotton, linen, denim or canvas in plain colours. Cream, sage or charcoal grounds let the floral bits and the shell colour really sing. I would skip busy patterns since theres alot going on in the design itself. My customer who runs a small witchy candle shop ordered four different stitched out versions last halloween to use on her tote bag merch.

Five sizes from 4.4 inches wide up to 8.3 inches, smallest is around 30k stitches and largest hits 63k. Use midweight cutaway since the dense black skull and shell sections pull the fabric a fair amount. Slow the machine on the colour change between the shell coral and the snail blue if your bobbin tension feels off, that section has the longest unbroken satin run.

Ping me if any file gives you grief and ill swap it out the same day. Drop a chat message if the punch needs tweaking and Ill update it.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
