The baby elephant is just curled up and asleep on a lil fluffy cloud. Trunk tucked underneath, eyes closed with those tiny curved lashes, small round ears folded flat. Above it theres a crescent moon off to the right and 5 small stars scattered around. The whole thing is very quiet and sleepy, which is exactly the mood ya want on a babys bedroom wall or on the front of a sleep suit.
Four colours: the elephant body in sage grey, the cloud in a cream-white with horizontal fill stitching that gives it texture, a warm peach-gold for the moon and stars, and black for the fine outlines. Suprisingly the outline work is done in thin running stitch, not satin columns, so it reads as soft and sketchy, not bold and defined. Thats what gives the design its gentle feel instead of a hard cartoon edge.
Honestly the fabric answer is almost anything pale. White jersey onesies are the obvious choice, grey cotton bibs, soft white minky blanket panels, cream muslin swaddles. I made this for my sisters new baby in march and stitched it on a pale grey sleep sack. The moon colour came out warmer than the preview but it looked even better that way.
At just under 22k stitches on the largest 5.96-inch size its not a heavy file. Stick to firm cutaway on stretchy jersey or fleece. Pop a light tearaway under woven muslin or cotton. Hoop gently on baby fabrics, ya dont need alot of tension for this stitch count. Skip thick canvas or denim for this one, the soft sketch lines need a fine weave to hold cleanly. Reach me if the file format doesnt load on your machine brand and ill sort you out with a compatible version. Text me if the satin needs adjustment and Ill check the punch.
