Last christmas I drew this sleeping cat on books for my sister. Shes a librarian and her tabby Mochi sleeps on a bedside book pile every afternoon. The kitten body is dove grey with darker grey directional fur stitching, eyes closed peaceful, paw tucked under chin, with little pink ears and a soft pink nose. The fill follows the curl of the body so the cat reads dimensional, not flat.

Three books stack underneath. Bottom book in pale yellow, middle in blush pink, top in pastel mint, all with thin gold accent stripes on the spines. Around the bottom of the stack youll spot a big sunflower on the left side, purple wildflower clusters scattered through, plus 2 pink blooms peekin out the right edge. Dark green directional leaves fill the gaps.

Heads up, its the heaviest stitchout in my catalogue, so youre gonna wanna brace yourself. 9 sizes from 3.96 to 7.47 inches wide. Stitch range starts at 43k for the smallest size and climbs to 96k for the largest, with a density log of 1525 which is dense dense. 18 colours total, that grey body alone needs 4 thread shades to fake the soft watercoloured fluff effect. embroidery software digitising keeps it clean.

Place a medium piece on a cream cotton pillow cover for a reading nook, or pop the largest size on a canvas tote bag for a book lover gift. Hoop with heavy cutaway stabiliser plus mesh topping if your fabric has nap, that grey fluff fill will sink into towel loops without it. Pre-wind 6 bobbins, ya gonna need em with 96k stitches. Skip dark fabrics, the dove grey kitten goes invisible on charcoal or navy. Pick polyester thread for the books to keep colours bright through wash, and run rayon on the body for the soft sheen.

Send a note via the order receipt if your machine misreads a colour.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
