Two tabby cats, one up and one flat out. The cat sitting up has its mouth thrown wide open mid yawn, eyes squeezed shut in that full-body stretch expression, whiskers fanned out long and sharp. The striped tabby markings on the head and chest use tight directional runs so the fur kinda just looks like fur. Right beside it the second cat lies curled up sleeping, head resting on its front paws, totally unbothered. The only colour in the whole piece is a tiny spot of pale pink for the noses, everything else is just black on whatever fabric ya pick.

professional embroidery software used dense cross-hatched stitching in the darker coat sections which gives the thing an almost woodcut quality up close. The contrast between the deep black stripes and the white fur sections comes from underlay and density variation, not a second thread colour, which is kinda impressive digitising work honestly. Five sizes, 3.5 inches 7.5 in range, 14k stitches at the smallest and 41k at the biggest. Just 1 colour change for those 2 tiny pink nose dots. Dont let the low colour count fool ya, theres alot going on in the stitch detail.

I made this one after a run of requests from cat shelter volunteers who wanted something for fundraising totes and hoops. One customer told me they stitched the 6.5-inch version onto cream linen last spring and auctioned it at a cat rescue gala. Reach out any time if ya want to know which size works best for a specific project and I'll tell ya straight.

Stitch on white, cream, or light grey fabric for best contrast. The woodcut look very comes through on natural linen. Pop the bigger sizes on tote bags or cushion covers, use the small 3.5-inch on patch badges or cat collar tags if your machine can handle that scale. Use a medium tearaway on stable woven cotton. Switch to cutaway for fleece or jersey because the dense fur sections need firm backing to stay crisp. Reach out if something looks off after stitching and I'll have a proper look at the file.

  • Cat shelter volunteer uniform patchesEmbroider the 3.5-inch on a canvas patch badge and sew it onto shelter volunteer jackets or fleece vests.

  • Vet clinic reception wall hoopHoop the 5.5-inch in a 7-inch frame and hang it in a vet clinic waiting area above the cat intake counter.
  • Linen tea towel for cat-themed kitchenStitch the 4.5-inch on white cotton tea towels for a cat-themed kitchen gift set, pairs well with a matching mug.
  • Cat adoption event tee shirtsPop the 5.5-inch on a grey cotton tee for a cat adoption event and write the shelter name underneath in chain stitch.
  • Framed linen hoop for a hallwayFrame the 6.5-inch in a 9-inch natural linen hoop with a simple bow and hang it in a cottage-style hallway.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
