Heres the sleeping duckling and shes properly knocked out. Body curled into a little oval, head tucked down, eyes closed with a gentle curve line, tiny orange beak resting forward. Three small pink hearts drift up above her head like a sleep cloud. Three colours total, kept simple on purpose for a nursery piece.

The duck body is soft buttercup yellow stitched with a low density tatami fill so it reads plush, not heavy. Black satin outline traces the body and wing curve, kept thin so it dosent overwhelm. Hearts are blush pink satin columns with a centre line down the middle, simple and sweet.

I drew this one specifically for baby gear. The biggest size only runs about 19k stitches and the smallest is under 9k so its quick to stitch out. A customer last month put the 4-in chest on a yellow cotton sleep sack for her sister-in-laws baby shower, the whole nursery theme was ducks and she sent photos. Properly cute combo.

Stitch on soft cotton, jersey, muslin or fleece. Light pastels read best, so think cream, soft mint, pale grey, blush or buttercup yellow if you want it tonal. Skip dark fabric because the yellow body wont pop against navy. Skip heavy denim aswell, the design is meant for soft baby goods not workwear.

Density is light at 475 stitches per square inch so any standard cutaway works on woven cotton. Use a no-show mesh cutaway on jersey baby clothes and float a layer of tear-away topping on fleece. Pass on velour or deep fleece, the soft duck silhouette sags against the nap. Send a chat note if a satin column shreds on higher speeds.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Baby onesies and sleep sacksCenter the 4-inch size on a cream cotton onesie and the sleeping duck reads as the calmest nursery print on the rack
  • Newborn bibs and burp clothsPop the 3-inch on a soft jersey bib and pair it with a matching burp cloth set for a baby shower bundle
  • Nursery cushion coversStitch on a soft mint cushion cover and the pink hearts add a sweet pop of colour to a calm nursery palette
  • Crib sheet corner accentsPlace the smallest size on the corner of a white crib sheet so it peeks out from under a swaddle blanket
  • Baby shower gift hoopsHoop the 6-inch in a pale wood frame with the babys name above it and gift it as a nursery wall keepsake
  • Soft cotton swaddle blanketsStitch on a muslin swaddle for a handmade baby gift that washes well and stays soft after dozens of cycles
  • Diaper bag personalisationAdd the small size to a quilted diaper bag pocket flap to personalise mums everyday carry without being loud
  • Toddler pyjama topsEmbroider on toddler pyjama tops for a matching brother-sister sleepwear set in cream and pale yellow

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
