Heres the smiling bee and shes basically the chubbiest happiest lil bug youll meet today. Round honey-yellow body, three thick black stripes wrapping across, big shiny black eyes with white sparkle dots, and a tiny grinning mouth right under em. Two soft pink cheek blushes give her that proper kawaii sticker feel.
Wings are done in pale grey with white highlight strokes so they read see-through against the body. Tiny dangly legs stick out underneath. Theres also a curly antenna pair on top that bounce slightly off-centre, kinda like she just landed.
Ten thread colours total which sounds alot but each one swaps fast, no long sequences. The body uses tatami fill running with a soft yellow-to-honey gradient, the stripes go satin column for crisp edges, the eyes use small satin ovals with a tiny white highlight punch on top. Density is 707 stitches per inch, runs 15,407 stitches at the smallest 3.37-inch size up to 38,327 on the biggest at 7.22 wide.
If you stitch baby and toddler merch this design just delivers. I get messages from preschool moms about this one almost weekly. One mum ordered the 5-inch size for her daughters spring birthday party shirts last april, and the bee popped right off pale yellow cotton. Said her kid wouldnt take the shirt off for a week. Suprised me how attached lil ones get to chubby cartoon bees. Cute wins.
Stitch on pale yellow, white, soft pink or sage fabric for cleanest read. Skip dark or busy patterned fabric, the wing greys and pink cheeks will lose against it. Use polymesh cutaway on stretchy baby knits, medium cutaway on woven cotton. Hoop tight, the gradient body needs steady tension to read round. Knock the help link if the design wont open on import.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
