Its the sun but make it goofy. This smiling sun character has a round filled face with a big open grin, white teeth showing, a little red lip accent at the bottom, and a pair of chunky square sunglasses sitting across the nose line. The rays spike outward all around in yellow with orange satin tips. Seven colours total, which is why the stitch count gets up to 23,553 on the 4 inch version, theres alot happening in the face detail with the gradient layering between yellow and orange.

Four sizes, from about 2 inches up to just under 5 inches. The 2 inch is sweet for a pocket or sleeve. The 4 inch and 5 inch versions go on a shirt front nicely for kids. Dont make the mistake of assuming this wont read at the small size, the smile and sunglasses are still clear at 2 inches because the shapes are bold and the digitising kept the detail manageable.

Heres a customer story that stuck with me: a mum ordered the medium size on a yellow cotton tee for her sons 5th birthday party last summer, she made 12 matching shirts for the kids coming to the beach party. She said the kids went absolutely nuts for the grinning sun and wanted to know his name. Thats the kind of character this design is.

Use cutaway stabiliser under knit cotton and jersey since the face fill is dense and the rays need support. Tearaway works fine on woven cotton canvas or twill. Keep your machine at a comfortable speed through the face section, dont rush it.

Best on white, sky blue, coral and lemon yellow fabrics. Looks great on beach towels, kids tees, swim bag totes and summer camp gear.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
