Theres alot happening in a narrow vertical format here. The tail at the top is properly scaled, those overlapping arch stitches are individually placed to build up the scale pattern row by row, not just a fill with a scale texture programmed in. You can see the difference at the 5.51 inch and above, each scale catches the light a little differently which is exactly what real fish scales do.
The anchor at the base is solid and chunky, the kind you see on old sailor tattoos rather than a decorative graphic one. Thick flukes, proper ring at the top, rope implied by the outline curves. It grounds the whole composition so the fin section doesnt just float. Single black thread on this, its a tattoo-flash design and color would take something away from that quality. A customer ordered four of these last month for a bachelorette beach party, said they were stitching them onto tote bags for the whole group.
Stitch it on white or natural fabric and it reads clean and bold. On black or navy with white thread it flips completely into something that looks more like a screen print. Use a light tearaway or cutaway depending on your base, dont need a topping on smooth cotton. Pop the 5.51 inch on a canvas beach tote and at 4.51 inches it sits great on a sweatshirt left chest. professional digitising software handled the scale sequencing, the run path goes scale by scale rather than row by row which is why the back looks tidy.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
