Worked up this crawling version to complete the chibi Spider-Man set. The horizontal crawling pose is really different from anything else in the series, the figure stretches wide across the frame with all four limbs splayed and the big round head pushed forward. Its alot of visual energy in a compact design. The extra colours in this one, seven total, add proper depth and shading you dont get in the simpler 4 or five colour versions.
7 colours: beige for a tiny neck skin area, light blue, deep red, white, a second darker red tone, dark blue and black. The second red handles shadow and fold detail on the suit which is what makes the fabric look three dimensional on actual cloth. 6 colour changes during the run. Density is 1,048 per inch in the detailed sections. So a good heavy cutaway stabiliser isnt optional here, get a 2oz or heavier and back it properly.
5 sizes from 4 inches up to 8 inches. The 4 inch smallest runs 24,405 stitches, the 8 inch hits a full 60,000 stitches, thats probably 25 to 35 minutes depending on your machine speed. Dont rush the tension setup before the large size. Back any stretch fabric with cutaway minimum before hooping. Use woven cotton twill, canvas or denim for the cleanest results.
My daughter actually asked me to stitch this one on her canvas pencil case last month. Came out really well at 4 inches on the navy canvas, the 7 colour shading shows up nicely even at that smaller size.
Run a test stitch on scrap fabric before committing to your good material if its your first time with a high density design like this.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Boys denim jacket sleeve designThe horizontal crawling pose fits naturally along the sleeve of a denim jacket at 4 to 5 inches without looking crammed.
- Canvas pencil case or pouch accentOn a navy canvas pencil case the 4 inch version adds a bold accent that kids genuinely love and it wears well with daily use.
- Horizontal banner style wall hoopStitched on white cotton in a rectangular 4x8 hoop the crawling pose becomes a natural horizontal wall art composition.
- Kids Spider-Man themed bedroom decorPaired with the swinging version in matching hoops above a bunk bed this creates a fun Spider-Man themed kids room display.
- Large format shirt back panelThe 7 or 8 inch version on a plain back panel of a sweatshirt or tee makes a proper centrepiece design with real visual impact.
- Marvel fan collectible patchStitched on a thick felt patch blank this becomes a collectors piece with enough detail to display as a framed item.
- Superhero birthday banner or buntingSmall 4 inch versions sewn onto fabric pennant shapes or bunting strips tie together a superhero party theme really well.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
