Knocked out this lil swinging Spider-Man because I wanted something that worked for toddlers and little kids, not just the older fan crowd. The chibi proportion gives Spidey an oversized round head with huge mask eyes and a small compact body dangling from a web strand that runs diagonally through the frame. Dont underestimate how well the rounded shapes read at small sizes, thats exactly why I went with chibi style here.
5 colours in the design: white, grey, red, blue and black. The grey acts as a subtle highlight on the mask face which gives just a lil bit of dimension without adding a complicated extra colour change. 5 colour stops in the run. Stitch counts range from 10,280 for the 3 inch size up to 36,570 for the 8 inch. Density is 775 stitches per inch so its a fairly rich design, alot of detail packed into those compact proportions.
6 sizes from 3 to 8 inches. Use the smaller 3 or 4 inch sizes as left chest patches on tees or hoodies. Pick the 6 or 7 inch for a jacket back piece. Pop a cutaway stabiliser under stretch fabrics like jersey, use a tearaway behind woven cotton twill or canvas. The diagonal strand can pull slightly on loose weave fabric so backing it properly matters.
I get alot of messages asking which spider-man design works best for toddler sized clothes. This one is the answer every time, the proportions read well at smaller scales where the realist versions cant hold their detail. A customer ordered a batch last christmas for her daycare to stitch on kids aprons and she said every 3 inch version came off clean.
Stitch it on white cotton in a round hoop for a sweet kids bedroom wall piece.
