Worked up this pumpkin design specifically for people who wanted something that looked genuinely gothic rather than cute. Thick satin columns form the pumpkin outline so it sits up off the fabric with some real weight to it. Inside, instead of a carved face, theres a full orb web radiating out from the centre, and right in the middle a fat spider with detailed leg segments just sitting there. The stem curls into small scroll shapes at the top which softens the overall silhouette a bit.
Single black thread, no colour changes, but dont let that fool you, this one has a high stitch count. Five sizes in the file from 3.51 inches up to 7.51 inches. Smallest sits at 14,348 stitches, the largest goes up to 36,013. At full size this is a substantial piece, it wont be a quick stitch, plan for maybe 45 minutes to an hour depending on your machine speed.
Use a medium to heavy cutaway stabiliser, especially once you go above 5 inches. The dense satin border puts alot of thread down in a small area so you need the fabric properly anchored. Stick to tearaway on firm cotton or canvas for the smaller sizes, and skip loosely woven fabrics at any size since the tension on the satin columns can pull the weave.
My favourite placement for this one is centred on the front of a black sweatshirt or tee, the design is bold enough to be the only thing on the garment. A customer sent me a photo last october of the large size stitched on a black felt wall hanging and it looked like a proper gothic art piece, you'd realise what the technique was if you looked close but from a step back it just looked like a carved block print. Works brilliantly on canvas totes and heavy cotton bags too.
Message me if anything looks off with the file and Ill get back to you the same day.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Halloween sweatshirt or tee centrepieceCentred on the chest of a black sweatshirt the bold outline reads clearly from a distance without needing any other decoration.
- Gothic canvas tote bagOn a black or natural canvas tote the pumpkin silhouette fills the panel with a strong graphic that holds up to daily use.
- Black felt or linen wall hangingStitched on black felt and left in the hoop it becomes a ready-to-hang wall piece with almost no finishing work.
- Halloween trick or treat bagThe 3.5 inch size fits neatly on a small drawstring candy bag for a personalised halloween gift.
- Denim jacket back panelOn a denim jacket back the 6 or 7 inch version has real presence without spilling past the yoke seams.
- Pillow cover for spooky home decorOn a natural linen pillow cover the heavy satin pumpkin outline creates a bold contrast thats good for autumn through halloween.
- Hoop art in a shadow box frameIn a deep shadow box the web detail catches the light differently at different angles and makes a striking display.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
