Put together this spider rose web design for halloween a couple of seasons back and it truly struck a chord with the gothic florals crowd. The spider sits at the top of a circular web, and right in the centre of the web there's a single open rose. The web radiates out in concentric rings with spoke lines, and the whole thing reads as this kinda gothy romantic image rather than just a standard spider.

Two colours throughout. The web and spider are in black, the rose petals in white with directional satin fills on each petal so they have some dimension. Its not flat at all up close. The stitch count goes from about 7,300 at the smallest up to just over 20,000 at the full 7.5 inch size, so digitising at this density produces a really tight result.

Comes in 5 sizes, from 3.5 inches at full 7.5 square. A customer who batches gothic halloween cushions ordered the large for a black velvet cover and it looked like something from a boutique halloween shop. Use it on bags, jackets or any dark fabric where the white rose detail will pop.

Stitch on cotton, denim, canvas or sturdy fleece. Cutaway stabiliser for knit or stretch fabric, tearaway for woven. Avoid white or pale backgrounds since the pale rose petals wont contrast enough to show up.

Send me a chat note message if the download gives you any bother and Ill get it sorted for you.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Halloween throw pillows and cushionsA large size on a black velvet cushion cover gives a gothic boutique look that works even after halloween.
  • Gothic tote bags and pursesThe square format suits a centered tote bag print in black thread on a black canvas bag.
  • Spooky halloween sweatshirtsCentered on a crew neck sweatshirt the rose softens the spider for a wearable halloween look.
  • Jacket patches and vest backsThe design fills a 5 inch patch well for iron-on application to jackets or vest backs.
  • Dark academia bedroom decor hoopsStretched in a 9 inch hoop with black linen backing it makes a seasonal bedroom wall piece.
  • Halloween market craft bagsSmall size on canvas or muslin bags is popular at autumn craft markets and gothic gift fairs.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
