The whole thing is built around a heart shape but its split down the middle in the most halloween way possible. Left side: a rounded cartoonish ghost floating with that hollow oval eye look, sitting against a light open fill. Right side: solid black satin fill, a bat perched right at the top centre, two pumpkins nestled in the lower half with some trailing vines, and a spider web tucked into the bottom-right corner of the heart. Lil stars scattered through the dark side aswell. Its a strong contrast piece.

Six sizes here, running from 1.83" wide at the smallest, climbing to 5.49" wide at the largest. Stitch counts go from 6,348 to 20,210, all single colour so theres no thread changes mid-hoop. Density sits at 490, which is right for a clean satin fill on woven cotton without bleed-through on the back. The open fill on the ghost side uses directional underlay stitches so it reads clearly even at the smaller 2-inch range.

Layer a soft cutaway on t-shirt knit or fleece. On woven quilting cotton youre fine with a tear-away. Skip the topping on this one unless youre using terry, the satin sections are dense enough to push through most fabrics cleanly.

I had a customer reach out this past halloween after stitching the 4-in piece on a black silk pillowcase and honestly the white ghost outline against black looked sharp, she said people kept asking where she bought the pillow. Single colour on a plain dark fabric is kinda unbeatable for this one.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Halloween throw pillows and cushion coversStitch the 5.5-inch version centred on a 14x14 pillow cover front in matching black thread on ivory linen.
  • Gothic wedding anniversary gifts for October couplesA gothic heart motif works brilliantly on a framed hoop as a dark anniversary keepsake for October weddings.
  • Black tote bags for halloween market stallsThe 4-inch size fits cleanly on a natural canvas tote front below the handle seam line.
  • Halloween-themed book sleeves and journal coversHooped on black felt and slip-stitched around a journal cover, the ghost half shows up beautifully.
  • Patch iron-ons for denim or canvas bagsRun on thick felt with a cutaway backing, trim to a lil border, press with iron-on adhesive onto denim.
  • Trick-or-treat bags for older kids and teensThe 3-inch size at centre of a canvas bag is subtle enough for teens who want halloween without the cartoon look.
  • Halloween wall art hooped and framedStretched in a 6-inch hoop with the fabric backed in charcoal grey linen, it frames itself.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
