Played around with the idea of gnomes going properly spooky for halloween. Three of them, all very different. The one on the left has a floppy skull hat and a long white beard, real classic gnome shape. Center one is a melted dripping orange monster with a cracked face built into the drip, its the wild card of the trio. The one on the right is wearing a purple bat hat and carrying a broomstick, which I think is my favourite of the three.

I get orders for these every october season and the feedback is always the same: the centre gnome takes the most stitching time but its worth it. Hoop with a heavy cutaway stabiliser on any fabric because the density hits 1,230 stitches per square centimetre at the center figure, tearaway wont hold that reliably. Slow your machine to about 600 SPM through the orange sections to get clean satin without needle drag. Five sizes in the download, 1.94 inches up to 4.15 inches wide.

The tall narrow format means all 3 gnomes together fit on a chest panel, a tote bag front, or a pillow without any part getting cut off. Stitch the full 11-colour version for maximum effect or simplify to 5 colours if your machine has a smaller thread palette. The smallest 2-inch version works as a patch or a pocket detail on a kids shirt.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Halloween sweatshirts and hoodies for adults or kidsAt the 4-inch width all 3 gnomes read clearly on a sweatshirt chest without the detail getting lost.
  • Seasonal decorative pillows and cushion coversStitch on a 20-inch cushion in the center for a halloween throw pillow that works through November too.
  • Trick-or-treat canvas tote bagsBlack or natural canvas tote, the orange and purple palette reads really well against both grounds.
  • Gnome-themed halloween table runnersThe horizontal spread of 3 gnomes lines up naturally along a table runner hem without any rotation.
  • Iron-on patches for denim jackets or bagsBack with heavy tearaway pressed to iron-on vinyl for a wearable denim patch, the dense fill holds well.
  • Kids halloween costumes and accessoriesThe 2-inch version stitches in about 15 minutes and fits a pocket or cuff on a kids costume top.
  • Gift bags and seasonal packaging decorationStitch onto kraft paper-effect fabric and use as a reusable gift bag panel for halloween presents.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
