Alright this one is all about the font. I spent alittle longer than usual on the satin columns for this design because at 3.51 x 2.79 inches the lettering has to carry the whole thing, theres no illustration element to hide behind if the typography comes out flat. Six colours, 9,763 stitches at density 155, digitised in digitising tools with directional satin fills in the main letter bodies and a second colour drop shadow layer that gives it that old halloween poster depth.

Stitch this on a medium-weight cutaway stabiliser on knit or stretch fabrics, tearaway works fine on woven cotton or canvas. Run the horizontal underlay pass first then let the satin go on top, if youre stopping and restarting mid-underlay the upper satin registration shifts slightly so dont do that. Skip topping on smooth cotton or linen because the fill density at 155 is light enough that topping threads can get pulled into the satin and show. Add a topping on fleece or terry to protect the finer drop-shadow detail lines, those narrow outlines need the surface held flat.

I get customers every year who use this for halloween party decoration, stitched on black burlap strips for a mantle banner, on hessian bag fronts, on felt pennants. One customer wrote me this past october and said she ran a set of six hessian pennants for a party and guests were asking where shed bought them, not realising they were handmade. Thats the kind of feedback that keeps me going on lettering designs.

Black cotton drill, dark orange linen, charcoal canvas, pick a dark woven base so the 6-colour palette reads as genuinely vintage rather than like its been screen printed on. The angled satin and shadow colours do their best work on textures that have a bit of tooth.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Hessian party banner pennantSweatshirt chest for someone whose halloween aesthetic is vintage carnival poster rather than cute ghosts.
  • Canvas trick-or-treat bag frontHalloween door sign fabric panel mounted on foam board, the bold poster lettering announces the house from the street.

  • Dark denim jacket sleeve accentDenim jacket upper sleeve for an autumn fair look that carries the vintage typography aesthetic off the garment.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
