Eight colours, 5 sizes from 2.59 to 5.53 inches wide, and this gnome is the classic round-bodied style, big pointy hat coming down over where his face would be, hes clutching an oversized flower right at the front. The bloom has 5 petals in a warm coral-pink colour, and the stems leaves curl slightly on each side. Hat is a deep sage green, body is dressed in cream and the boots are a warm tan brown. Eight colours total in the build so theres alot going on but it doesnt feel busy because of how the shapes are laid out.

Mapped this in my embroidery software with satin columns on the hat and dense tatami fill on the gnomes body. Density sits at 961 and the stitch count opens at 16,839 on the tiny size, climbing to 39,909 on the largest, which is the full 5.53 inch wide version. Five sizes total, spanning 2.59 to 5.53 inches across with heights 3.51 to 7.51. Pop a thick backer on knits and fleece, especially at the larger sizes where the density gets heavier. On woven cotton a tearaway works fine.

Spring stuff sells well and a customer last spring told me she put the larger size on a tote bag for a school market and sold out in two hours. And honestly it makes sense because gnomes have been popular for a few years now and combining them with spring florals just keeps working. Dont sleep on the smaller 2.59 inch version either, it fits nicely on childrens shirt pockets and bib corners.

Pop it onto light coloured fabrics, cream, white, sage or soft yellow backgrounds let those 8 colours breathe properly. Skip dark navy or charcoal backgrounds because the cream body sections wont read well. Best results come with 40 weight rayon thread for the flower petals, keeps the satin smooth and the colour pops.

Five sizes, 8 colour changes, comes out clean and crisp on jersey and cotton alike. Hit me if theres any sizing issue and Ill sort you out.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Spring-themed tote bags and market bagsThe 5.53 inch size centred on a tote reads clearly from distance at craft markets.
  • Children's t-shirts and sweatshirtsThe 2.59 inch size sits neatly on a chest pocket or sleeve of a kids tee without overwhelming the garment.
  • Easter basket liner embroideryUse the mid-size version on cotton muslin basket liners for a clean springtime Easter display.
  • Garden aprons and kitchen towelsStitch the larger version onto a canvas apron bib panel, the sage and coral work well against natural linen tones.
  • Baby bibs and burp clothsThe 2.59 inch version on cotton fleece bibs stitches cleanly with firm cutaway underneath.
  • Seasonal throw pillow coversThe full 5.53 inch size centred on a 20-inch pillow cover makes a seasonal display piece you can swap in each spring.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
